| The Volta Tower 1865 - 1951Thu, 08 Jan 2009 12:36:59 -0800 by sniff001The Volta Tower was a building in the town of Finedon, England built in 1865 by Mr Mackworth-Dolben. He built the tower to commemorate the death of his son, William Digby, a naval officer, who drowned at sea in 1863 while serving on the ship HMS Volta. The tower stood far back with a long driveway in front, along Station Road in Finedon. Not much changed in the surroundings of the Volta Tower apart from Finedon's new cemetery was built alongside the Volta Tower in 1892. The tower sadly collapsed on November 16, 1951 after standing for 86 years. The Volta Tower collapsed on the November 16, 1951. At the time, Mrs. Florence Northen and her husband lived there. Mr. Northen was outside at the time of its collapse and survived but Mrs. Northen was inside and killed by the tower's collapse. It was discovered after its collapse that no mortar had been used at all in its construction which caused its untimely collapse. Older residents of the town who remember the day of the Volta Tower's collapse describe hearing a loud rumble as it collapsed and describe seeing a huge dust cloud in the air over where the Volta Tower had been standing. Today, the driveway up to where the Volta Tower stood still exists and a farm has been built on top of the Volta Tower's location as well as a bungalow. Nothing of the tower exists today apart from one gargoyle from close to the top of the tower which was auctioned and sold to one of Finedon's residents in recent years. Sadly, it is only the older generation or those who have been told about the Volta Tower who know of its past existence but for many of Finedon's residents, they will have never heard of it. It was one of Finedon's landmarks and does appear on Finedon's town sign alongside the church and the windmill. Ironically, both are close to where the Volta Tower stood.I have always have had a fascination in tall buildings and structures like windmills, water towers and lighthouses for example and despite being too young to have ever seen the Volta Tower, its history has always fascinated me and I believe there are a lot of people in our town unaware of it and I think it is a unique, fascinating building that people within Finedon and all over the world need to know about. Right now, with over 130,000 views it should be on the first page of today's most-viewed list (global), but YouTube has relegated it to the last page at number 90. They've done this in order to stop the vid from going viral. If this isn't censorship, then I don't know what is :( I made a complaint to YouTube but they never reply. Contrails are streaks of condensed water vapor created in the air by jet airplanes at high altitudes. Contrails can exist in two forms: water droplet and ice crystal. Contrails typically become visible about a wingspans distance behind an aircraft flying at high altitude. The trail dissipates quite quickly, usually within a minute or so. Chemtrails, on the other hand, are visible directly behind an aircraft, with little or no gap between the aircraft and the start of the trail. Albert Einstein clearly knew the importance of the honey bee when he said: "If the bee disappears from the surface of the earth, man would have no more than four years to live."There are currently three main hypothesis for the purpose of chemical spraying in the skies: weather modification, population control, and testing of biological agents on the general poplace.Even if we assume that these trails have nothing to do with eugenics or weather modification, we cannot ignore the fact that our skies are being heavily polluted with aviation fuel emissions that contribute towards a host of different health problems. As far as Im aware, jet engines run on kerosene (paraffin). Up until the 1990s, most petrol-driven road vehicles used leaded petrol, which was not only harmful to the environment, but caused asthma as well as lowering of the IQ. The tetra-ethyl (lead) found in aviation fuel and its combustion products are potent neurotoxins that have been shown in scientific research to interfere with brain development in children. Leaded petrol has now been banned for use in motor vehicles.
