Thinking at the Edge - Pt3
Tue, 02 Dec 2008 23:27:44 -0800 by Simondo18

Thinking at the Edge (TAE), like Focusing, is a practice developed from the Philosophy of the Implicit. Here Mary Hendricks (Director of The Focusing Institute) and Eugene Gendlin introduce key concepts and describe TAE. It is a set of exact steps to develop a fresh use of language and a new kind of theory to speak from something in one's field which one knows but has not been able to say or write. This is a way to say something that can restructure the basic terms and practices in a field, rather than being able to say what fits the current viewpoint. Videogra phy by Nada Lou nadalou.com and music by Goran Petrovic. 10:51 min excerpt from 2 dvd documentary videotaped in NY 2002.

Eugene Gendlin introduces Focusing (Pt.1 International Conference Toronto 2000)
Mon, 24 Nov 2008 13:25:19 -0800 by Simondo18

Part One of a presentation introducing Focusing and the 'felt sense' by philosopher and psychologist, Eugene Gendlin Ph.D. Focusing is more than being in touch with your feelings and different from body work. Focusing occurs exactly at the interface of body-mind. It consists of specific steps for getting a body sense of how you are in a particular life situation. The body sense is unclear and vague at first, but if you pay attention it will open up into words or images and you experience a felt shift in your body. In the process of Focusing, one experiences a physical change in the way that the issue is being lived in the body. We learn to live in a deeper place than just thoughts or feelings. The whole issue looks different and new solutions arise. See focusing.org for more info. Videography by Nada Lou nadalou.com and music by Goran Petrovic, this doco was shot in 2000 in Toronto. 8.5 min excerpt from 2 hour dvd.
